I recently moved out of working in outside sales after 20+ years and into "hands-on" manufacturing and one of my new employer's requirements is steel toe work shoes/boots,as they are very safety conscious,so after looking at dozens of designs and manufacturers,I chose the Caterpillar Riggers.A little background. I've been wearing dress shoes or sneakers for an eternity,so switching to work boots has been a drastic change for my feet, especially since I am now on my feet 10+ hours a day and never had any arch support. When I put the Riggers on for my first day of work, they fit great and buying the "duck foot" wide models was a real saving grace. Here is where the problem came in. Feet that have never had arch support, tend to HATE arch support! By the end of my first day of work,I wanted to take these boots off and throw them into the river ... they hurt my feet that much. Day two ... not much better, but by day four,my feet began to adjust to the boots and I could almost say they are comfortable ... but not just yet,I need a few more weeks of wearing them to be 100% sure. Now for the good news. These Caterpillar Riggers are built extremely well/tough and are properly advertised as so. They are probably worth more $ than I paid for them ... so buy yours now,as I could only find this model at Amazon. The seller was great and the boots arrived before their projected delivery date.Once my "stupid feet" become completely adjusted to their new home,I am sure that I will get years of comfortable and safe service out of my Caterpillar Riggers.I’ve been through a ton of different insoles and my plantar fascia still hurt. I’ve never owned any shoes that cause this kind of pain before. I’ve had boots that cause blisters and need a break-in period, whereas these actually don’t. My old Wolverines were great for being on my feet all day, but weren’t tough enough after the switch from carpentry to automotive. These boots are tough as it gets and keep my feet dry too. They are pretty well kicked around and generally abused all day and they have really stood up to the test after 4-5 months. I finally found some insoles that minimize the pain, but it’s still there and the struggle is real. Sadly I think I’ll have to try something else soon.My husband loves it. Very comfortable but does not really say is waterproof. Only because it did not even pass the 3 months before it started to get holey. For the price it's not bad but I can buy close to the same cost and it will at least last 6 months tops. These boots only lasted him 3 months for his work. It was obviously a gift BUT he did say he liked how it felt in the inside because he's flat footed so he needs good cushion. If the boot lasted at least 6 months, I would definitely give it a higher rating. Thank youI am a inner city cop that only uses Caterpillar boots, they take a beating, cool in summer, warm in winter, most are waterproof, anti slip, etc. I am on patrol which means a concrete jungle, the boots usually last about a year from my punishment, I have not had any problems other than using a permanent marker to cover up the yellow print.Once I figured out that the tongue on the left boot was folded over and creating the pressure on the top of my foot that was keeping me from being comfortable for more than an hour, they've been great. It is kind of annoying to have to re-lace them once or twice to make sure the tongue is flat, but they've been great other than that. This boot fits true to size . Seems to be made well , although time will tell as it was bought as a yard work boot. Unfortunately it appears to be a discontinued item as I looked on numerous sites to get descriptions as well as Caterpillar's site. SO....if you want a pair, better order them now as I have seen nothing similar in searching. Features that appealed to me were the boot is waterproof, has a steel toe and a "walking" type sole. It also has metal lace hooks. A lot of the more expensive boots like KEEN have gone to plastic hooks. Now those ought to last a long time! These are really comfortable. The only downside is that when I wear them for several hours doing construction, my left foot has slight discomfort. I am not sure if I have them laced wrong or if it is because of the steel toe.Purchased these to ware in technically varied work environment. Fit was good. Anti static worked great around sensitive electronic equipment as well as when handling fuel. Waterproofing held up to numerous times in ankle deep cleanup. Good cushioning on concrete floors and asphalt. Good ankle support. Leather and souls still going strong. My first pair of caterpillar boots but won't be my last.
